English Club Introduction:

At Kwun Tong Kung Lok Government Secondary School, the English Club aims to provide a language-rich environment and motivate students to learn English through a wide range of interactive activities. Throughout the year, students engage in various fun and educational events, such as solving riddles during the Mid-Autumn Festival, exchanging candies for Halloween, and matching inspiring quotes for Thanksgiving. The club also hosts a Christmas Phonics Game, a Chinese blue and white porcelain activity, and opportunities for inter-school oral practice to familiarize students with the HKDSE exam format. Additionally, students enjoy tongue twisters and special activities celebrating Father’s Day, all designed to enhance their language skills while fostering a sense of community and excitement about learning English.

Riddles:

To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, the English Club worked closely with other teams to organize a list of activities such as Chinese and English riddles and 3-D paper lantern making workshops for our students. Though the break was short and the weather was hot, our students enjoyed the activities a lot!

Halloween:

In the spirit of Halloween, our NET teachers and other English teachers delighted students by distributing candies right before the festivities. Roaming the school corridors, they cheerfully greeted each student with “Trick or Treat!” The excitement was palpable as students eagerly responded, some attempting clever tricks of their own. Laughter and the rustle of candy wrappers filled the air, creating a festive atmosphere that brought the school community together, making Halloween a memorable occasion while encouraging students to practice their English in a fun way.

Christmas Phonics Game:

During the Christmas Phonics Game, students eagerly gathered to enhance their pronunciation skills in a fun and festive atmosphere. With holiday-themed words on display, some students focused intently, using their phonics skills to break down tricky words like "jingle" and "ornament." Encouragement filled the room as classmates cheered each other on, creating a supportive environment. Laughter erupted when a few students playfully mispronounced words, turning their efforts into a joyful learning experience. This engaging activity not only improved their phonics but also spread the holiday spirit throughout the classroom.
